Peugeot 3008 2021: new design and hybrid installations.
The last modernization of the Peugeot 3008 crossover took place in 2016, and therefore the time has come for a planned update of the model.

  • Buy Peugeot 3008 Crossover Cars and get the best deals at the lowest prices on eBay! Great Savings & Free Delivery / Collection on many items.
  • Sized halfway between a 308 hatch and estate car, the 3008 is built on Peugeot's Platform Two chassis, which is the basis for the 308 and the bigger 5008 MPV. One of the more tantalising show cars was a diesel electric hybrid model, dubbed the Hybrid4.
  • Peugeot's first attempt at the family Crossover segment, the 3008, proved to be very successful for the Gallic brand when first it was introduced in 2008. To keep this model competitive in the Qashqai class, the French maker significantly facelifted this design towards the end of 2013.

The manufacturer did not dare to make drastic changes, but carried out a point correction of the body design, instrumentation and engine range. Sales of the new Peugeot 3008 2021 in Europe will start before the end of this year.

The novelty will be offered in three basic trim levels (Active, Allure, GT) and three variants derived from them with the prefix Pack (Active Pack, Allure Pack, GT Pack). The exact prices will become known closer to the start of sales.

New «face»

The French decided to refresh the external appearance of the model by modifying mainly the nose of the body. Here, the radiator grille has been corrected, and additional vertical sections of the running lights have been «drawn». The fog light blocks have disappeared, since their functions are now performed by the main headlights (they have a special Foggy Mode).

LED optics were included in the basic configuration of the crossover, but it consists entirely of diodes only in the top versions of the GT and GT Pack. Following the example of other new Peugeot products, the SUV got a nameplate with the model index on the front edge of the hood.

There are not many changes at the back. The graphics of the lanterns have become a little different, although the drawing is still made in the form of three «claws». Turn signals made dynamic. There are no other innovations at the stern.

During the restyling, the Peugeot 3008 got new San Francisco rims for the GT Pack. Two shades of blue have been added to the body color range: Celebes Blue and Vertigo Blue. In addition, Pearl White, Artense Gray, Platinum Gray, Perla Nera Black and Ultimate Red colors will be available.

For GT and GT Pack versions, customers will be able to order the new Black Pack decor. It provides for the black color of the false radiator, roof, roof rails, door and bumper linings, and a spoiler. The signature lion on the grille gets a dark chrome finish.

Interior and equipment

The main new thing in the cabin was the appearance of a more advanced digital cockpit i-Cockpit. It includes a 12.3 «virtual instrument cluster and a 10» media center touchscreen display.

Below the central screen is a block of seven buttons in the «piano» format. They allow you to quickly navigate to the settings of the radio, air conditioning, navigation, on-board systems of the car, telephone and mobile applications. The last button lights up the hazard lights.

Restyling also brought the crossover new interior trim options using leather, Alcantara and exclusive decorative inserts. At the same time, the list of equipment was replenished with a frameless rear-view mirror and two USB ports for rear passengers.

But more important are improvements in terms of electronic security systems. The new Peugeot 3008 2021 model year has been assigned a whole scattering of assistants, including:

Improved adaptive cruise control — automatically resumes movement when stopped for less than 3 seconds;
Advanced road sign recognition — reads not only speed limits, but also other indications;
Night vision system — detects pedestrians and animals at a distance of 200-250 meters, displaying a warning on the dashboard;
Emergency braking — works at speeds of 5-140 km / h, signaling the risk of collision with an object in front;
Assist system when driving in the lane.

In addition to the above assistants, the new Peugeot 3008 can be equipped with all-round cameras, a parking assistant, automatic switching of headlights, monitoring of «blind» zones.

The modernization has also affected the motor range. In Europe, the model will no longer have versions with a 180-horsepower diesel engine. However, the rest of the units survived. Among them:

Three-cylinder gasoline engine PureTech 1.2 (130 hp);

Four-cylinder PureTech 1.6 (180 hp);

Four-cylinder diesel 1.5 BlueHDi (130 hp)

For engines with 130 hp. a choice between a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed «automatic» is offered, a 180-horsepower gasoline unit is completed with an automatic transmission only. All modifications are front-wheel drive.

In addition to the classic internal combustion engines, the new Peugeot 3008 relies on plug-in hybrid installations. They have two configurations:

Hybrid 225 e-EAT8 — combines a 1.6 liter petrol engine with 180 hp. and a 110 hp electric motor built into the automatic transmission. The total output of the system is 225 hp. (360 Nm), the drive is carried out on one axis only;

Hybrid4 300 e-EAT8 — uses a combination of a 200-horsepower 1.6-liter PureTech unit and two electric motors. The motor integrated into the automatic transmission has a power of 110 hp, installed on the rear axle — 112 hp. The output is 300 hp. (520 Nm).

Hybrid crossovers differ from conventional crossovers in that they have a multi-link suspension at the rear. The lithium-ion battery in both versions has a capacity of 13.2 kWh.

The Hybrid 225 modification with such a battery is capable of driving 56 km on one electric traction, the Hybrid4 300 version — 59 km.

To restore battery energy, a single-phase charger for 3.7 kW (standard) or 7.4 kW (optional) is provided.

Charging time, depending on the power of the device, varies from 1 hour 45 minutes to 7 hours.

Peugeot's fantastic i-Cockpit has been updated as well.

Europe’s compact crossover segment is hugely competitive as virtually all brands want a piece of the action now that customers are shifting away from sedans and hatchbacks. Peugeot arguably makes some of the most attractive crossovers in the business, and the 3008 is a prime example of an excellent design, especially if we’re talking about the second generation.

The 2017 European Car of the Year is entering the second phase of its lifecycle courtesy of a facelift aimed at keeping the 3008 fresh and competitive in a challenging market. The nip and tuck brings the compact crossover in line with recent models carrying the lion badge by adopting a similar headlight setup with the daytime running lights extending all the way down. We’ve seen this look on the recent 208 supermini and the gorgeous 508 fastback, while the smaller 2008 crossover features a similar design theme.

Another obvious change is the adoption of a significantly larger front grille with a frameless design and extending underneath the reshaped headlights. You’ll also notice the “3008” badge has been added above the corporate logo to mirror the company’s current offerings while harkening back to classic models such as the 204 and 504 from many decades ago.

As far as the cabin is concerned, the i-Cockpit has been updated with a larger 10-inch touchscreen replacing the 8-inch infotainment system of the pre-facelifted model. It’s complemented by a fully customizable 12.3-inch digital driver’s display lending the dashboard a high-tech look. Models equipped with an automatic transmission now come as standard with selectable Normal, Sport, and Eco driving modes. The hybrid 3008 allows drivers to pick between Electric, Hybrid, Sport, and 4WD modes.

There will be a lot of powertrains to choose from, kicking off with a turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine with three cylinders. It produces 130 horsepower and can be had with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. Upgrade to the four-cylinder 1.6-liter and you’ll get 180 hp channeled to the wheels exclusively through an eight-speed auto.

On the diesel side, the 2021 Peugeot 3008 facelift can be equipped with a four-cylinder 1.5-liter producing 130 hp in both manual and automatic flavors.

Two hybrid models are available, starting with a two-wheel-drive model combining a 180-horsepower combustion engine with a single 110-hp electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It offers a combined output of 225 hp and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h).

The range-topping variant rocks a 200-hp gasoline engine working together with a front-mounted 110-hp electric motor and a 112-hp rear-mounted electric motor. It’s the only all-wheel-drive 3008 available and has an eight-speed automatic transmission. Combined output stands at a respectable 300 hp and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft), helping the crossover complete the sprint in 5.9 seconds en route to 146 mph (235 km/h).

Both hybrid models utilize a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 13.2 kWh providing enough juice for 35 miles (56 kilometers) of WLTP-certified range for the two-wheel-drive model and 37 miles (59 km) for the all-paw variant.
