However my radiator had a lot of rust and despite my bad painting it looks so much better now.

We've used one of those very successfully. Cleaning the wall isn't too difficult with a combination of a hoover, brushes, damp kitchen roll and various sticks .I like this idea but ...
cleaning the wall sufficiently still strikes me as troublesome. Gaffer-tape a sponge to the end of a ruler?

Bollocks. That's how I've painted behind radiators for 40 years and it works perfectly well.Lazy bastard. Take it off any do the job properly!0<=' span='>0- Run some cardboard down the interior face, mask up, then get a long handled small roller. If you are fitting skirting, any radiators have to be removed, even if you can do a hidden mitre joint, it's a bodge.0<=' span='>0

That long handled roller looks just the job...0<=' span='>0 The Screwfix business model is similar to the Argos 'shopping experience', however it's de rigueur to dress like a jobbing builder instead of a slack-jawed chav scumbag to shop there.

I believe they've changed hands numerous times, currently German owned I think? I think a lot of their survival is down to a) they're in prominent positions and b) people think Screwfix are trade only.boogieman said:

- Business models aside, the bit behind the towel rail is now wearing new paint. It will get another layer this evening, which will finish the basecoat, then it is ready for the Kitchens&Bathrooms top coat. It's looking good so far, and will be very nice when it is done.
The only downside is the amount of paint I washed out of the roller, and out of the tray (even after tipping the tray back into the tin), looked like more than went on the wall. @boogieman - I've learned something new today then, interesting. The Homebases near me have gone, turned into B&M. I thought Sainsbury's had finally binned them off, didn't realise they'd changed hands. Re. Screwfix, I was dismayed when me dad told me they have the same parent company as Orange Hell (TM), I've always hated B&Q. I'd rather go to the dentist.

Homebase haven't been owned by Sainsbury's for a very long time. I think the Boots/Halfords group owned them at one time. Whatever, they're terrible and I try to avoid them like the plague; high prices, terrible store layout, minimally staffed with seemingly non-trained people and getting increasingly scruffy. I hadn't realised that B&M were buying their stores though; I've learnt something new today too!
