RailModeller Express
RailModeller Pro 5.3.7 is available for only $39.99 USD (or an equivalent amount in other currencies) worldwide exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Graphics and Design category. A free version, RailModeller Express - which is suitable for smaller layouts with a limited number of tracks - is also available through the Mac App Store in. I had been using RailModeller for a while, and about a year ago, the developper released a new version for the Mac App Store: RailModeller Pro. There is now also a free version (RailModeller Express) to try everything out. I had already showed what the old RailModeller could do, in many posts including here or here. Main use scenarios. RailModeller Express is a free application for creating small model railroad layouts.

RailModeller Express is the free edition of our app portfolio for planning model railroad and slot car layouts on macOS.
The app is available exclusively on the Mac App Store.
The Express Edition offers many of the features supported by RailModeller Pro with some limits regarding the size of layouts you can build.
This way you can try out our macOS model train track planning app right away for free.

Railmodeller Express Windows
There are many makes of track planning software, one called SCARM is open source and therefore freely available. Unfortunately for me it doesn’t work directly on a Mac, although I can use it under bootcamp on the Apple iMac and it works very well. I was lucky to be able to get an early version of a Apple iMac program called Rail Modeller, and I used this to prototype various designs to fit my 3 x 1 metre baseboard.
Rail Modeller Pro and a free cutdown verison RailModeller Express is now available from the Apple App store and includes datasets for a multitude of manufactures of rail track including Märklin.
Railmodeller Express
All versions also provides a 2D view as well as a nice rotatable 3D presentation of layouts. Usefully it also allows you to input a stock list of the track you already have and from that it produces a want list of additional track parts you might need to complete your new layout. A listing of parts can be produced, providing their part numbers, quantities and if you wish you can add their costs. The track plan can be printed, screen shots saved, as well as printing the layouts at various scales.
