FeaturesNewsNewsletterReleasesUncategorizedPlease welcome YouTrack 2019.3! The latest version comes with a host of new features and improvements for all aspects of your YouTrack experience.
The main change is the new and improved Issues List, with significant enhancements in both performance and appearance, including a new sidebar and toolbar, dark mode, and more. Besides, we’ve added a new Issue Activity Feed widget for dashboards and project pages, HTML support in Markdown and other improvements to work with issues and attachments efficiently, and integration with additional version control systems.
The new language options open the doors to community-based localization for Simplified Chinese, Hebrew, Hungarian, and Korean. Reports have improved navigation, and Kanban boards automatically add new issues. There are also new ways to manage the lifecycles of your projects and other improvements.
Redesigned Issues List for everyone
Once available as an experimental feature, the new Issue List is now live for all! You can switch to the dark theme by going to your profile picture, use the renewed collapsible sidebar and toolbar, and filter issues from right under the search bar. You can also choose which fields you want visible on the Issues List, and use actions to select and apply a command to all of the issues at the same time. The list is also better at adapting to various screens and window sizes which make it look and perform better on your devices.
For your dashboards and project pages: an Issue Activity Feed widget
Use this neat, customizable widget to stay on track with what’s been happening recently with the issues and projects you are involved in. It functions as an activity feed that can be added to your dashboard or project and can be used in several ways.
Personal dashboards
Add the Issue Activity Feed widget to your Dashboard to get a real-time overview of what’s going on right now within your projects. Choose and filter which projects, issues, and changes to them you want to see. Basically, the Issue Activity Feed can be used as an alternative to the mail notifications you would get when changes are made to YouTrack issues you are subscribed to. Another option is to use the widget to show a feed of every action, which you can use to provide you with a bird’s-eye view over the project.
For a detailed guide on adding the widget, please see the documentation.
Project page
Project administrators can use the Issue Activity Feed widget to add useful content to the project landing pages. For example, filtering new issues or/and resolved ones using one or two Activity Widgets added on the project page in Hub can help your users see the current state of the project.
Formatting for your issues: HTML support in Markdown, simplified attachments, and code blocks
We’ve enabled HTML support that lets you do more with Markdown when you work with issues. You can now format issue content in HTML, and enhance issue descriptions, comments, and text fields with collapsible blocks, custom text colors, line breaks in table cells, and much more.
We’ve enhanced the appearance of fenced code blocks in Markdown. Blocks of code in a specified language display a language tag along with line numbers for the code. Blocks that are specified as text appear in a monospace font, without syntax highlighting.
Moreover, you can add direct links to files that are attached to an issue. Instead of making other users guess which attachment you’re talking about, just point to it directly. And you can share files that are attached to issues by sharing the URL.
For your version control systems: new integrations
Youtrack Markdown Image Size
You can now link your YouTrack projects to repositories that are hosted on a Bitbucket Server, Gogs, or Gitea installation.
The settings for integrations with TeamCity now accept a token for authorization instead of a username and password. This means you no longer need to store your personal passwords in the integration settings and can freely update your passwords without breaking integrations.
For our non-English users: new community-based localizations
Youtrack Markdown
You can now try out four additional languages that are supported by community-based localization: Simplified Chinese, Hebrew, Hungarian, and Korean. Our community has started working with YouTrack in these languages and adding their translations. Needless to say, all the efforts are much appreciated! These language options are now available at the global level or as a per-user preference.
There is still a long way to go to cover all of these and other world languages, so you are very welcome to join our localization efforts and help out the community!
For reports: improved navigation
The Reports page now sports an updated sidebar which gives you one-click access to all your favorite reports and hides the ones you don’t use.
The way of creating reports from the issue list has been revamped: now you’ll find all the reports from the main navigation panel at the top of the page.
For Kanban boards: automatically add new issues
The option to automatically add new issues is now available for agile boards that don’t use sprints. This helps teams that follow a Kanban flow to manage all of their issues from one place.
For evolving projects: new lifecycle management
While your projects evolve and grow, you can freely change the project name, the prefix in tickets, commonly known as Project ID, or both. This will not break any internal and external links to your project and issues.
YouTrack now stores the collection of IDs that were previously used as issue prefixes in a project. When you change the ID in a project, the IDs for the issues in this project are also updated. External links to issues that use historical project IDs are redirected to issues that use the current project ID.
Besides, the option to archive values in fields that store data as a version is now extended to values in additional fields that store enumerated types. Retire values that you no longer want to use without applying unwanted updates to large batches of issues.
And finally
YouTrack now ships with Java SE 11 with all the latest Java vendor security patches in place. It is no longer reliant on Java 8.
